RUSSIAN FIGHTER JETS TO COST UGANDA ITS ANUAL EXPORTS.

In the wake of recent revolutions throughout the Arab World,Russia is moving ahead of arms exporters to arm the poor East African nation, for half the country's annual budget.
Ugandan government military spokesman,Felix Kulayigye, has confirmed to the public that a leading Russian arms exporter would supply the country with 6 high tech Russian made SU-30MK2s.
The maritime strike air craft SU-30MK2,is manufactured by KnAAPO,a branch of Russian arms manufacturer,Sukhoi group. The aircraft is an upgraded version of the two seater SU-35,common in the mid nineties.
It was originally designed after a 2 $bn order from china, for 35 air crafts to support its navy.Later,Venezuela,Indonesia and Vietnam joined in the purchase of this improved fighter jet.
On the African continent,Uganda is the second such country to order for the aircraft, after Algeria.
The aircraft is designed for long range surface to air attacks, with a speed of 2,120 km/h.
At a cost of 740 million US dollars for six air crafts,Russia would have eaten into half the annual total exports of a country with a population surviving at less than US 2$ a day.
Uganda has half  its budget funded by Western donors, and  total annual export receipts of less than US 2$bn.
This year the country has seen inflation run into double digits, with sky rocketing prices of essential commodities.
The Ugandan government has rushed to push the parliament, dominated by supporters of the regime, into supporting the deal,as a face saving mission.
The deal if sealed, would place the country at the forefront of an arms import, based on its small sized econy of US 12$bn G.D.P.
Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni, has ruled the country for over two decades, and was accused by foreign election observers for using the country's resources to buy off voters,to get him another five year term in office.
